Position Summary
We are looking for a Remote Sign Language Interpreter to support school districts in Alaska, primarily working with older students in grades K-12. This is a full-time, contract (1099) position that offers competitive pay based on your experience and the school district’s resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide sign language interpretation services via virtual platforms to ensure students can access their education seamlessly.
- Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to tailor communication approaches based on each student’s needs.
- Facilitate clear and effective communication between students and teachers during online lessons, meetings, and other school activities.
Qualifications Needed
- Experience: Ideally, candidates will have at least 2 years of experience working in school environments, though this is not a strict requirement.
- Certification: Must hold an EIPA score of 3.8 or higher, or be BEI-certified.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or Educational Interpreting is mandatory.
- Technology Skills: You will need to pass a tech screening to ensure your equipment, including Wi-Fi and Zoom, meets the technical requirements for this role.
