Fully Virtual Special Education Coordinator for New Hampshire Schools

Position Overview
:

As a Virtual Special Education Coordinator, you will oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of special education programs for students in the virtual setting. You will collaborate with teachers, families, and other staff members to create individualized education plans (IEPs), provide professional development, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate IEP Development: Work closely with special education teachers, parents, and other support staff to develop, review, and update IEPs for students in a virtual setting.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all special education programs and services are in compliance with state and federal regulations, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Maintain open communication with school staff, parents, and external service providers to ensure students' needs are met effectively.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track students' progress towards IEP goals, make necessary adjustments, and prepare reports for families, administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Professional Development: Provide training and support to virtual educators and paraprofessionals regarding best practices in special education.
  • Support and Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for students with disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to all learning opportunities and are supported in their academic journey.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certification: Current New Hampshire Special Education certification required.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience working in special education, with a preference for experience in virtual or online learning environments.
  • Knowledge of Laws: Strong understanding of IDEA, 504 Plans, and other relevant special education laws and guidelines.
  • Technical Skills: Comfort with technology and virtual platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, or similar).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to handle multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with IEP software and tracking tools.
  • Experience in a leadership or coordination role within a school or district.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practices and strategies for supporting students with behavioral needs in a virtual environment.
