K-12 Remote Sign Language Interpreter Job in Kalamazoo, MI

Are you looking to secure a remote position for better flexibility as an independent contractor? VocoVision is currently accepting applications for a remote Sign Language Interpreter for this ongoing 2023-24 school year in the Kalamazoo, MI area. This position will treat you as your own independent contractor, meaning you ll have the opportunity to schedule your hours all from the comfort of your home. For further consideration, we require all contractors to have a minimum of two years of previous school experience within the past five years.

Position Details

• 1099 independent contracting structure
• Full-time expected hours (see below for more details)
• We work with a Zoom Plus application (HIPAA/FERPA compliant)
• We have multiple needs across different districts with different caseloads

School Hours: 8:00 to 3:30 PM local time

• 37.5 total direct/indirect hours per week
• You can complete any indirect hours at your own time.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor s in ASL Interpreting.
• Minimum EIPA rating of a 4.0 or higher (with written component) OR National Interpreter Certification (RID).
• California Live Scan Fingerprinting (for out-of-state contractors)
• Maintain professional liability insurance coverage as an independent contractor.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students and faculty with deaf and hard of hearing needs.
• Provide online interpreting through American ASL for deaf students/faculty.
• Participate in virtual IEP meetings with parents for specific student needs.
