Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction and support to our K-12 students who are visually impaired. As a remote TVI, you will work closely with students, families, and our educational team to ensure each child receives the individualized support they need to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to visually impaired students in areas such as literacy, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to create and execute strategies that support student learning and development.
- Conduct virtual assessments and observations to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods as needed.
- Utilize various digital tools and platforms to deliver engaging and effective instruction remotely.
- Offer training and resources to parents and caregivers to support their child's learning at home.
- Stay current with best practices, assistive technologies, and legal requirements related to visually impaired education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairments, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Minneosta.
- Proven experience working with elementary-aged students who are visually impaired.
- Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching methods.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and inspire students remotely.
- Proficiency in using virtual teaching platforms and educational software.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
