Virtual Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)- Ohio

VocoVision is seeking a highly skilled Virtual Sign Language Interpreter to join our team as an independent contractor. In this role, you will provide remote sign language interpretation services for students, teachers, and staff in Ohio, facilitating clear communication in virtual educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and professional sign language interpretation for virtual classroom sessions and meetings.
• Facilitate communication between Deaf and hearing individuals in an educational context.
• Interpret spoken and written content into sign language and vice versa.
• Ensure clear, effective communication while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to address communication needs and promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Stay current with best practices and emerging technologies in remote interpretation.

Qualifications:

• Certified Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID Certification) or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in educational or professional interpretation settings.
• Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various sign language dialects.
• Experience with virtual communication platforms and technology.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience interpreting in educational settings.
• Familiarity with special education needs and accommodations.

Compensation:

• This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Compensation is competitive and based on experience and assignment scope.
