Overview

VocoVision is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to provide remote educational services to students in Illinois. This full-time, 1099 contract position offers the flexibility of working from home while making a significant impact on the lives of DHH students.

Requirements

Master's Degree in Deaf Education or related field
Active Illinois Deaf Education endorsement
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a DHH Teacher in a school setting
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Proficiency in various communication modalities used in deaf education
Experience with using Zoom and other digital platforms for remote teaching
In-depth understanding of deaf culture and the educational needs of DHH students
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a virtual environment

Responsibilities

Deliver specialized instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students via remote platforms
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) specific to DHH students
Conduct assessments to evaluate students' language acquisition and academic progress
Work collaboratively with general education teachers, interpreters, and other educational professionals
Modify curriculum and create appropriate instructional materials for DHH students
Employ various teaching strategies and technologies to engage students in a virtual setting
Facilitate the language and communication development of DHH students
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on students' progress
Stay current with best practices in deaf education and distance learning techniques
