Overview

VocoVision is seeking a skilled and compassionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to provide remote educational services to students in Ohio. This full-time, 1099 contract position allows you to work from the comfort of your home while supporting DHH students in their academic journey.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Deaf Education or related field
  • Active Ohio Deaf Education endorsement
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a DHH Teacher in a school setting
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience with various communication modalities used in deaf education
  • Proficiency in telehealth platforms, particularly Zoom, for remote teaching
  • Strong understanding of deaf culture and the unique needs of DHH students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to various student needs in a virtual environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students through online platforms
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to DHH students
  • Assess students' language and academic skills to determine their needs and monitor progress
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and other educational professionals
  • Adapt curriculum and create appropriate learning materials for DHH students
  • Utilize various digital tools and teaching methods to engage students in virtual learning
  • Support the language and communication development of DHH students
  • Maintain accurate records and generate reports on student performance
  • Stay updated on best practices in deaf education and online instruction techniques
