Overview
VocoVision is on the lookout for a dedicated Virtual Educator who specializes in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education. In this independent contractor role, you will create enriching online learning experiences, ensuring effective communication through technology and tailoring your approach to meet diverse student needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborative Support: Work alongside onsite DHH staff to deliver direct educational services.
- Lesson Development: Craft interactive virtual lessons that align with educational standards.
- Technology Integration: Use tools like video conferencing, captioning, and ASL to enhance communication.
- Material Adaptation: Adjust instructional resources to accommodate various learning styles and language preferences.
- IEP Collaboration: Contribute to IEP creation and monitor student progress effectively.
- Data Management: Maintain thorough records of student performance and data.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education or related area (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certification: Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or Special Education.
- Experience: Prior experience teaching deaf or hard of hearing students, especially in online formats.
- Skills: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with assistive technology.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
Additional Requirements
- Must hold a current California teaching certification.
- A minimum of two years of experience in educational or pediatric environments.
- High-speed internet access and technological proficiency.
- Required to have liability insurance and be prepared for independent contractor status.
