Virtual Sign Language Interpreter


Location: Remote (California-based school)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Work From Home Contract
Pay: $50/Hour

Key Responsibilities

• Provide real-time ASL interpretation for students during virtual classes, school meetings, and other educational activities.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and special education staff to ensure that students' individual educational plans (IEPs) are met.
• Interpret lessons, presentations, and other verbal communications in a clear and culturally appropriate manner.
• Assist in adapting instructional materials to ensure accessibility for students with hearing impairments.
• Support students in understanding and interacting with classroom activities and their peers.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and uphold professional boundaries.
• Attend and participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and other professional development activities as required.
• Act as a resource for teachers and staff on issues related to deaf culture and sign language interpretation.

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong knowledge of Deaf culture.
• Current certification as an interpreter (e.g., RID, NIC, or equivalent).
• Previous experience working in a K-12 educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of California state education requirements and guidelines for special education.
