Overview

VocoVision is seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to provide remote interpreting services to students in Minnesota. This full-time, 1099 contract position offers the flexibility of working from home while facilitating communication and supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students in their educational journey.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
• 4.0 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score or higher
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting
• Proficiency in using Zoom and other digital platforms for remote interpreting
• Excellent ASL skills and strong English language proficiency
• Ability to work independently and adapt to various subject matters and communication styles

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in virtual classroom settings
• Interpret for various subjects and grade levels as assigned
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers during online classes and activities
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing materials and vocabulary related to the subject matter
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the interpreter code of ethics
• Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to ensure effective communication
• Stay current with ASL vocabulary, especially in educational and technical contexts
