Work From Home Opportunity with Colorado School District – Sign Language Interpreter
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Virtual Sign Language Interpreter to join our team. In this role, you will facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and hearing individuals in a variety of settings. As a virtual interpreter, you will provide remote interpretation services using video conferencing platforms, enabling seamless communication and equal access to information for our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct virtual sign language interpretation sessions, enabling effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and hearing individuals.
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Provide sign language interpretation in various settings, including educational, medical, legal, and community environments.
- Adapt signing style and techniques to accommodate the unique needs and preferences of individual clients.
- Facilitate understanding and cultural awareness between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and hearing individuals.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients to ensure smooth interpretation services and address any concerns or challenges.
- Stay updated on sign language interpreting trends, advancements, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized sign language interpreting program.
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Extensive experience in sign language interpretation in various settings.
- Familiarity with virtual interpreting platforms and video conferencing tools.
- Strong understanding of deaf culture, communication methods, and linguistic variations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
