Job Title: Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired – North Carolina
Location: Fully Remote (North Carolina)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our remote team and make a meaningful impact in our students' lives.
Position Overview:
As a Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will be responsible for delivering specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments using virtual platforms. You will work closely with students, families, and educational staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), provide instructional materials in accessible formats, and promote academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Delivery: Provide virtual instruction tailored to the needs of students with visual impairments, including braille instruction, orientation and mobility skills, and use of assistive technology.
- IEP Development: Collaborate with IEP teams to create, review, and implement individualized education plans that address each student's unique needs and goals.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to evaluate students' progress, adjust instructional strategies as needed, and communicate results to families and educational staff.
- Resource Development: Develop and adapt educational materials and resources to ensure accessibility for students, including braille books, digital materials, and specialized tools.
- Family and Staff Collaboration: Work closely with parents, caregivers, and school staff to provide support, training, and resources that enhance the student's educational experience.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices, new technologies, and advancements in the field of visual impairment education through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification: Valid North Carolina teaching license with endorsement in Visual Impairment or equivalent certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with visual impairments.
- Skills: Proficiency in using virtual teaching tools and platforms, knowledge of braille and assistive technology, strong communication and organizational skills.
