Overview

VocoVision is seeking a skilled and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide remote educational services to students in Massachusetts. This full-time, 1099 contract position allows you to work from the comfort of your home while supporting students with visual impairments in their academic journey.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Visual Impairment, Special Education, or related field
  • Active Massachusetts Blind Education endorsement
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a TVI in a school setting
  • Expertise in braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Proficiency in telehealth platforms, particularly Zoom, for remote teaching
  • Strong understanding of the unique needs of students with visual impairments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to various student needs in a virtual environment

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction to visually impaired students through online platforms
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students with visual impairments
  • Perform functional vision and learning media assessments
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, parents, and other educational professionals
  • Modify curriculum and create accessible learning materials for visually impaired students
  • Provide instruction in braille, assistive technology, and other skills essential for visually impaired students
  • Facilitate the development of compensatory skills, orientation and mobility, and independent living skills
  • Maintain accurate records and generate reports on student performance
  • Stay updated on best practices in education for visually impaired students and online instruction techniques
