Remote Virtual Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students (2024-2025 School Year)

VocoVision is looking for a dedicated Virtual Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to facilitate engaging online learning experiences. In this independent contractor position, you will provide high-quality instruction, leveraging technology to promote effective communication and tailoring lessons to meet diverse educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with onsite DHH staff to offer direct support services.
- Create interactive virtual lessons that align with curriculum standards.
- Utilize technology (video conferencing, captioning, ASL) to enhance communication.
- Modify instructional materials to accommodate various learning preferences and language needs.
- Work collaboratively on IEPs and track student progress.
- Maintain precise records of student performance data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or Special Education.
- Experience teaching deaf or hard of hearing students, particularly in an online environment.
- Proficient in ASL and knowledgeable about assistive technologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
VocoVision Requirements:
- Must hold a valid California teaching certification.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a school or pediatric setting.
- Access to high-speed internet and a strong comfort level with technology.
- Must have liability insurance and be prepared to work as an independent contractor.
