Overview
VocoVision is seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide virtual instruction and support to students throughout Pennsylvania. This remote position offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on deaf and hard-of-hearing students while enjoying a flexible work environment.
Position Details
- Location: Fully Remote (Pennsylvania-based)
- Contract Type: Full-time, 1099 Independent Contractor
- Schedule: Flexible within school hours, including time for indirect services
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Deaf Education or related field from an accredited program
- Active Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate with Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in school settings
- Proficiency in delivering virtual instruction and familiarity with online platforms (e.g., Zoom)
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong knowledge of Deaf culture
- Excellent communication abilities in both ASL and written English
- Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills
- Capacity to work independently and collaborate effectively in a virtual team environment
- Cultural competence to serve Pennsylvania's diverse student population
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Provide virtual specialized instruction tailored to each student's unique communication and learning needs
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, interventions, and IEP goals
- Actively participate in virtual IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational plans
- Adapt teaching strategies and materials to optimize effectiveness in an online environment
- Provide support and resources to families of deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Stay informed about Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements and advancements in deaf education
- Provide culturally responsive services to Pennsylvania's diverse deaf and hard-of-hearing student population
- Adhere to all PA DOE guidelines and regulations for special education services
- Contribute to the implementation of support strategies within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain certification and stay current with best practices
