We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Virtual Sign Language Interpreter to support students in our online school across Virginia. The ideal candidate will facilitate effective communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students by interpreting spoken language into sign language and vice versa in a virtual learning environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for a skilled and committed Remote Sign Language Interpreter to assist students in our virtual school throughout Virginia. The ideal candidate will enable effective communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students by translating spoken language into sign language and vice versa within an online learning setting.

Qualifications:

• Certification in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation or a similar qualification.
• Prior experience as an interpreter in educational environments is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of deaf culture and the communication needs of students.
• Proficient in using virtual communication tools and platforms.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.

• Candidates must be comfortable working as Independent Contractors.
• A technical evaluation will be conducted to verify sufficient internet speed, Wi-Fi stability, and Zoom capabilities for virtual interactions.
• Proof of professional liability insurance is required before commencing the position.
