Remote Sign Language Interpreter for K-12 Students (Alaska School District)

We are seeking qualified Virtual Sign Language Interpreters to support K-12 students in Alaskan school districts through teletherapy.

Role Description

As a Virtual Sign Language Interpreter, you will work full-time, providing critical support to students across various grade levels, with an emphasis on older students. This is a fully remote position under a 1099 contract. Compensation is flexible and will depend on your experience and the budget of the specific district you’ll be working with.

What You’ll Do

Provide virtual sign language interpretation for K-12 students during classroom instruction and other school-related activities.
Adapt your interpreting style to meet the unique needs of individual students and grade levels.
Collaborate closely with educators to ensure that all student communication needs are met and educational content is accessible.

Qualifications

Experience: 2+ years working as an interpreter in educational settings is preferred.
Certification: Must hold a certification with a minimum score of 3.8 on the EIPA or have BEI certification.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or Educational Interpreting is required.
Technical Skills: Ability to pass a technical screening to ensure Wi-Fi, Zoom, and other online tools meet the required standards for remote interpreting.

Requirements for VocoVision Contractors

All contractors must have general and professional liability insurance.
As a 1099 independent contractor, you will manage your own schedule and responsibilities, working autonomously within the role.
