Virtual School Sign Language Interpreter

Location: Remote (based in Georgia)
Job Type: Fulltime Contract – Work from Home
Pay: $35/Hour

Must have EIPA score of 3.5 or higher

Key Responsibilities
Interpretation Services:

Provide real-time sign language interpretation during virtual classes, meetings, and other educational activities.
Translate spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa to ensure clear communication between students, teachers, and peers.

Support for Students:

Assist Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in understanding classroom content, instructions, and interactions.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communications.

Collaboration:

Work closely with teachers, school counselors, and special education staff to address any communication needs or challenges.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to educational planning for students who require interpretation services.

Technical Proficiency:

Utilize virtual communication platforms effectively (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet) to deliver high-quality interpretation services.
Troubleshoot minor technical issues and ensure a smooth virtual experience for all participants.

Documentation and Reporting:

Keep accurate records of interpretation sessions and report any issues or concerns to the Director of Special Education.
Stay informed about best practices in virtual interpretation and adapt to evolving educational technologies.

Qualifications

Certification: Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or a similar recognized body is preferred. I
Experience: Proven experience as a sign language interpreter, particularly in an educational or virtual setting.
Experience working with students with diverse needs is a plus.
