An educational contract position is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) in Wake Forest, NC. This role focuses on providing specialized mobility and orientation services to a 12th-grade student, ensuring they develop the skills needed for independence and safe navigation.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans tailored to the students needs.
- Implement mobility training, including the use of assistive devices and environmental navigation techniques.
- Collaborate with educators, family members, and related service providers to support the student's educational goals.
- Monitor progress and adjust interventions as necessary to promote independence.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services and student progress.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS).
- Experience working with high school-aged students with visual impairments or related disabilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized mobility plans.
- Availability to begin immediately.
