Virtual School Counselor - IL
An opportunity is available for a professional counselor specializing in telehealth to support a high school population. This contract role is based in Peoria, IL, serving approximately 150 students. The position offers a structured weekday schedule from 7:25 AM to 2:55 PM, totaling 35 hours per week.
Starting on August 3rd, with new teacher training provided on July 30th, the assignment continues through May 19th. The counselor will be dedicated to one school building, focusing on students at the high school level.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing individual and group counseling services to support students academic, social, and emotional development
- Conducting telehealth counseling sessions to expand access and support for students
- Collaborating with educators, administrators, and families to address student needs and promote a positive school environment
- Maintaining accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress
- Participating in training and professional development opportunities, including new teacher orientation
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a school counselor or mental health professional
- Experience delivering telehealth services within educational settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to adolescent populations
- Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 150 high school students effectively
- Knowledge of current counseling techniques, mental health issues, and educational regulations
