Special Education Paraprofessional in La Fayette, GA

Support a Special Education Pre-K classroom in a full-time paraprofessional role located in Chickamauga, GA. This position involves working with young learners aged 3-5, many of whom have significant developmental needs, including non-verbal communication and behavioral challenges. The classroom serves small groups across two sessions, with some students attending full-day to support their transition into regular education programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the daily educational and developmental activities for special education Pre-K students
• Support students during two classroom sessions (7:30-10:30 AM and 10:30 AM-1:30 PM), with some students attending both sessions
• Help manage behaviors, assist with toileting, and foster a positive, supportive learning environment
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to implement individualized plans for students with diverse needs

Qualifications:

• Active Georgia PSC Paraprofessional Certification (pending certification will be considered)
• Prior experience as a paraprofessional preferred
• Patience, understanding, and strong communication skills to effectively support students exhibiting behaviors such as tantrums and non-verbal communication
• Commitment to supporting early childhood special education

Location & Schedule:

• Position based at Cherokee Ridge Elementary, Chickamauga, GA
• Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
• Contract through May 22, 2026, with immediate start
