Remote Sign Language Interpreter K12 Education

Job Summary:
VocoVision is currently seeking a certified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide remote interpreting services for K12 students in North Dakota public schools. This position is vital to ensure that students who are deaf or hard of hearing have full access to classroom instruction and can actively participate in school-related activities within a virtual learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time ASL interpretation during virtual classroom instruction, lessons, and school events

• Interpret spoken communication from teachers and peers into ASL, and voice student responses as needed

• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and school teams to support individual student communication needs

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct

• Participate in IEP meetings to offer input on communication access and recommended accommodations

• Utilize secure, FERPA-compliant platforms for virtual service delivery

• Complete all required documentation, including service logs and reports, following school district or agency policies

Qualifications:
Required:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English

• Current North Dakota Educational Interpreter license, or the ability to obtain one

• High school diploma or GED and completion of an interpreter training program

• RID certification or equivalent (e.g., EIPA score of 3.5 or higher)

• Proficiency with remote communication platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams

• Reliable high-speed internet connection and a professional remote work environment

Preferred:

• Experience interpreting in K12 educational settings

• Strong knowledge of child development and educational terminology

• Bachelors degree in Interpretation, Deaf Studies, or a related field

Work Environment:
This is a fully remote position. Candidates must maintain a quiet, dedicated home workspace and have access to reliable internet. All interpreting services will be delivered through secure video conferencing platforms.
