We are a dedicated organization committed to providing inclusive educational experiences for all students in Colorado. We are currently seeking a qualifiedVirtual Sign Language Interpreterto support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a virtual classroom setting.
About the Role:
As a Virtual Sign Language Interpreter, you will bridge communication between students and educators, ensuring accessibility to educational content. Your expertise will empower students to thrive academically while fostering a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpretation:Provide real-time interpretation of spoken language to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during online classes.
- Collaboration:Work closely with teachers and staff to prepare for lessons and address specific communication needs.
- Confidentiality:Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics.
- Adaptability:Adjust interpretation based on various subjects and ensure clarity for students.
- Professional Development:Engage in training to enhance interpretation skills and stay updated on best practices.
Qualifications:
- Certification:Valid Colorado Sign Language Interpreter Certification or equivalent.
- Experience:Previous experience interpreting in an educational setting is preferred.
- Language Proficiency:Strong command of American Sign Language and understanding of deaf culture.
- Communication Skills:Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with students and staff.
- EIPA score 3.5 or higher!
