Virtual Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter - Remote, Oklahoma
Position Overview:
Were hiring a certified Remote American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to support Deaf and hard of hearing students in K12 schools throughout Oklahoma. In this remote role, you'll provide real-time interpretation for virtual classes, meetings, and school activitieshelping ensure that students have equal access to education, communication, and school involvement.
Key Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken English into ASLand vice versaduring live virtual instruction, IEP meetings, and school events.

Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and administrators to understand lesson content and student needs.

Facilitate communication for students across academic and extracurricular settings in an online environment.

Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards, including the RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Adapt interpretation style to match students' language preferences and educational contexts.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; degree in ASL Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or related field preferred.

National RID Certification (NIC, CI/CT, or equivalent) required.

Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) interpreter credentials preferred for school-based interpreting roles.

Experience interpreting in educational settings, especially remote learning environments.

Proficiency with virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet).

Fluency in both ASL and English, with a strong understanding of Deaf culture.
Technology Requirements:

Up-to-date computer with webcam, microphone, and necessary software.
Preferred Experience:
