Virtual Sign Language Interpreter | Wyoming
A position is open for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within a K-12 educational setting. This role focuses on facilitating clear and effective communication for students and staff who use American Sign Language (ASL), ensuring accessibility across various learning environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing accurate and sensitive interpretation of spoken and signed communication during telehealth sessions to support student learning and participation.
- Assisting deaf and hard-of-hearing students during classroom instruction, meetings, and other school activities via remote platforms.
- Collaborating with educators, therapists, and healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and accommodation.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism while adhering to ethical standards in all interpreting assignments.
- Utilizing telecommunication tools and software proficiently to deliver seamless interpreting services.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Proficient fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Previous experience interpreting in educational and telehealth settings preferred.
- Knowledge of K-12 educational terminology and procedures is advantageous.
- Ability to manage remote interpreting equipment and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to adapt communication style as needed.
