Virtual Sign Language Interpreter | Kansas
An opportunity for a remote Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within an educational setting is available. This contract position supports communication needs from ASAP through the end of the school year, focusing on delivering high-quality interpreting for students and educators.
Location: Remote (serving Gardner, KS area)
Work Schedule:
- 12.92 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 8:45 AM to 9:30 AM, and 10:25 AM to 11:10 AM
- Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM
- Monday to Friday, 12:25 PM to 1:10 PM
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and clear Sign Language interpretation through telehealth platforms to facilitate effective communication in a learning environment
- Collaborate with educational staff to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Adhere to school policies and compliance standards for remote interpreting services
Qualifications:
- Achieved a minimum of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or higher
- Must be registered or actively seeking registration with the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH)
- Successful completion of a technical screening process is required
- Strong familiarity with telehealth technology and remote interpreting protocols
