Remote Sign Language Interpreter in KS
A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within a school setting. This role offers a remote work opportunity to provide sign language interpretation during scheduled hours, supporting effective communication for students requiring these services.
Location: Remote (supporting a school in Spring Hill, KS)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 8:45 AM 9:30 AM
- Monday to Friday: 10:25 AM 11:10 AM
- Monday to Friday: 12:25 PM 1:10 PM
- Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9:30 AM 10:20 AM
- Total weekly hours: approximately 12.92
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation via telehealth platforms during scheduled class times.
- Facilitate clear communication between students and educators, ensuring accessibility and comprehension.
- Collaborate remotely with education staff and service providers to support students' learning needs.
Qualifications:
- Achieve a minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher.
- Must be registered or in the process of registering with the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH).
- Successfully pass the required technical screening to ensure proficiency with telehealth technologies.
- Experience interpreting within educational environments is preferred.
This contract engagement runs from ASAP through the end of the school year (EOSY). The role demands professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to accessibility for students relying on sign language interpretation in a virtual setting.
