Virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - MI

A teaching opportunity is available for a professional experienced in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) through telehealth services. This contract position requires providing specialized instruction and assistance to a student currently served under a Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Speech or Language Impairment (SLI) designation.

Location: Benton Harbor, MI
Schedule: Daily from 12:28 PM to 1:15 PM

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering targeted instructional support to a student requiring DHH services during a specified daily time block
• Utilizing telehealth platforms and digital resources, including an iPad equipped with the Voco Toolkit, to enhance communication and learning
• Collaborating with existing educators and specialists to ensure a well-rounded, accessible educational experience for the student
• Adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of the student and facilitate effective skill development

Desired qualifications:

• Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with telehealth protocols and assistive technologies used in DHH education
• Experience working with students who have combined DHH and speech/language impairment needs
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage students effectively in a virtual environment
