Remote Teach of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing | North Carolina
A specialized teaching opportunity is available for professionals experienced in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through telehealth services. This role focuses on providing targeted assistance for a third-grade student in Chapel Hill, NC, emphasizing observation, consultation, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) support.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting detailed observations to assess student needs and progress
- Collaborating with educational teams during consultations and meetings
- Assisting with the development and implementation of IEPs tailored to the student's requirements
- Adapting instructional strategies to accommodate hearing devices and sensory needs
- Managing mild behavioral challenges related to defiance and course completion
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Certification or experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Familiarity with telehealth service delivery in educational settings
- Ability to work with students using hearing implants and who have mild to moderate autism spectrum conditions
- Strong communication skills and patience in addressing non-violent behavioral issues
- Flexibility to provide approximately 8 hours of service monthly, with potential for part-time engagement in the future
