Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing | Michigan

Seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to provide specialized telehealth support within a school setting. This contract position is located in Saint Joseph, MI, offering a focused daily session from 12:28 PM to 1:15 PM. The role involves delivering tailored educational services to a student with hearing and speech-language impairments, helping to segment their day effectively and ensure consistent access to specialized instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide telehealth-based support to a Deaf / Hard of Hearing student during the designated daily session.
• Utilize existing technology, including an iPad equipped with the Voco toolkit, to enhance communication and learning.
• Collaborate with school staff to coordinate support and adapt the instructional day to the students needs.
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to optimize educational outcomes.
• Maintain clear and professional documentation of services provided during the telehealth sessions.

Qualifications:

• Certified Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or equivalent credentials.
• Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, preferably in telehealth or remote learning formats.
• Familiarity with assistive technology tools such as the Voco toolkit.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to manage time effectively within a focused session schedule.
