Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing | Massachusetts
A specialized role is available to provide sign language services for a Grade 3 hearing-impaired student through telehealth in a school setting. Expertise in teaching the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, combined with proficiency in sign language interpretation, is essential to support effective communication and learning.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering sign language interpreting services via telehealth tailored to the needs of a young student.
- Collaborating with educators and support staff to facilitate accessible communication within the classroom.
- Assessing and adapting communication strategies to ensure comprehension and engagement.
- Supporting the social and academic development of the student by implementing appropriate techniques for hearing impairment.
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines within the educational environment.
Qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing or Sign Language Interpreter.
- Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf education methodologies.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote service delivery.
- Ability to work effectively with children, especially within a school context.
- Excellent communication skills and patience to support student needs.
