Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in FL
A specialized opportunity is available for an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) to deliver focused support for a 6th-grade student with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. This role, based in Stuart, FL, involves providing direct telehealth services within an educational contract setting. The student utilizes Phonak hearing aids and primarily communicates using spoken language.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering 30 minutes of weekly DHH services in the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) setting.
- Implementing strategies for self-advocacy and communication breakdown repair.
- Facilitating effective use of hearing accommodations and ensuring access to classroom instruction.
- Collaborating with educational staff to support individualized student goals based on the IEP.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with students with sensorineural hearing loss using hearing aids.
- Proficiency in telehealth service delivery tailored to educational settings.
