Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in MA
Providing sign language services for a hearing-impaired third-grade student through telehealth, this contract position involves delivering specialized support as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing. The role requires expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and effective communication tailored to young learners with hearing loss.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver remote sign language instruction and interpreting services to a third-grade student with hearing impairment
- Utilize telehealth platforms to engage and teach the student effectively in a virtual learning environment
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate inclusion and academic progress
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed
- Provide recommendations and resources to support communication access and success
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or proven experience as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or Sign Language Interpreter
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language with the ability to interpret and instruct young children
- Experience delivering services through telehealth or remote platforms preferred
- Knowledge of educational strategies and accommodations for students with hearing impairment
- Effective communication skills and patience working with elementary-aged children
