Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired - MO
A part-time role is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired to provide specialized telehealth instruction. This position focuses on supporting a 9-year-old, second-grade student with visual impairments, aiming to develop her writing skills. Instruction will be delivered virtually, requiring approximately 2.5 hours of commitment each month.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored telehealth lessons focusing on writing skills appropriate for a visually impaired second grader.
- Develop individualized teaching strategies to encourage literacy and independence.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching approaches as needed.
- Collaborate remotely with parents and educational staff to support the students learning goals.
Qualifications:
- Current Missouri certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required.
- Experience working with visually impaired students, particularly elementary-age children.
- Skilled in telehealth instructional methods and technology.
- Strong knowledge of braille, handwriting, and adaptive tools used by visually impaired learners.
- Ability to motivate and engage young students in a virtual setting.
Location: Remote work with the student based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
