Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Louisiana

A specialized opportunity is available for educators skilled in visual impairment and Braille instruction to provide telehealth services to a high school student in New Orleans, LA. This contract position focuses on delivering tailored support for one 10th-grade student, emphasizing both visual impairment and Braille literacy development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver one hour per week of visual impairment (VI) instruction tailored to the individual students needs via telehealth.
• Provide three hours per week of Braille instruction to enhance literacy skills.
• Develop and implement customized lesson plans aligned with educational goals and student progress.
• Collaborate remotely with school staff and families to support the students academic growth and accessibility needs.
• Maintain accurate records of service delivery and student progress reports.

Desired Qualifications:

• Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with proficiency in Braille instruction, or candidates excelling solely in one of these areas.
• Experience working with visually impaired students, especially within secondary education.
• Ability to deliver telehealth services effectively and engage students in a virtual learning environment.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with caregivers and school personnel.
• Commitment to accommodating and adapting teaching techniques to support student success.

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana (Telehealth service model)

Contract Duration: Immediate start through approximately May 21, 2027

Compensation is based on an hourly W2 contract ranging from $41 to $46 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
