Overview

In this previously recorded webinar, remote therapists and educators learn about developmentally appropriate fine and visual motor skills in school-aged children. As more instruction and therapy take place virtually, understanding how to assess and support these skills remotely is essential. The session explores how to effectively integrate Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies in a virtual environment and how to recognize when those strategies are not sufficient to meet a student’s needs – indicating the need for an Occupational Therapist referral. The webinar also provides practical examples for supporting students’ participation in written expression tasks within the classroom.

Remote educators and therapists will walk away with actionable guidance to better support students struggling with handwriting challenges, ensuring timely OT referrals and more targeted interventions in the virtual classroom.

What You'll Learn

After viewing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the fine motor and visual motor skills in school-age children who receive remote instruction that may negatively impact handwriting and written expression.
  • Identify RTI strategies that can be implemented remotely to support appropriate fine motor and visual motor skills.
  • Determine when to place a referral to the occupational therapist.
