An opportunity exists for a School Psychologist to provide essential psychological services in an educational setting located in Columbia, SC. This full-time contract position runs from August 6, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with a 37.5-hour workweek. The role primarily involves conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, counseling, consultation, and collaboration related to student learning and behavior.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing psychoeducational assessments to determine eligibility for special education services, including ability, achievement, personality, and behavior evaluations
  • Scoring tests and preparing detailed reports, while effectively communicating results to parents and educators
  • Observing and evaluating student behavior by reviewing various sources such as school records and teacher evaluations
  • Providing individual and group mental health counseling services for students
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, administrators, and external agencies to support student academic and behavioral success
  • Participating in Student Assessment Teams and multidisciplinary placement committees, including contributing to Individualized Education Program (IEP) development
  • Coordinating crisis management efforts and delivering crisis intervention services
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of professional developments, applicable laws, and regulations
  • Utilizing computer systems for test scoring, report generation, and record keeping

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Masters degree in school psychology
  • Minimum of two years experience as a school psychologist intern or equivalent experience
  • State certification as a School Psychologist
  • Ability to handle physical demands including operating office equipment and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in conducting detailed assessments and preparing comprehensive reports
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders in educational and clinical environments
