Virtual Sign Language Interpreter | Virginia
A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter with telehealth experience to support educational settings. The position is based in Portsmouth, VA, and requires delivering interpreting services within school environments.
Key qualifications and requirements include:
- Possession of a minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher
- Completion of both the written and oral portions of the EIPA, as required by the school
- Proven experience in telehealth interpreting services is essential
- Ability to provide accurate and effective communication for students and staff in educational settings
Responsibilities involve:
- Providing full-time interpreting services, totaling 37.5 hours per week, in compliance with educational standards
- Facilitating communication access during virtual and in-person sessions to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborating with educational teams to ensure appropriate accommodations and clear communication
- Maintaining professional standards consistent with school policies and the needs of students
