Online Teach of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - California
An opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) education, delivering instruction through telehealth services. This role involves providing tailored educational support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring accessibility and effective communication through virtual platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
- Conduct telehealth sessions that engage, support, and address the unique learning needs of each student.
- Collaborate with families, audiologists, speech therapists, and other professionals to monitor student progress.
- Utilize assistive technology and specialized teaching methods suited for DHH learners.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student performance and communication.
- Provide guidance and support to school staff regarding accommodations for deaf and hard of hearing students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Proven experience teaching students with hearing impairments.
- Strong proficiency in telehealth technologies and virtual instructional delivery.
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to adapt for diverse learning needs.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
