Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing | California
A specialized teaching opportunity is available for a professional skilled in instructing students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, delivered through telehealth platforms. This contracted position focuses on providing educational support remotely, enabling communication access and academic achievement for students with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering tailored instruction and support to students with hearing loss using telehealth technology
- Collaborating with educational staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse needs
- Providing resources and strategies to facilitate effective communication and learning
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal education guidelines regarding services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated ability to instruct using telehealth methods effectively
- Strong understanding of communication modes including American Sign Language (ASL) and assistive listening devices
- Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage virtual classroom environments
