Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) | California

A specialized educational opportunity is available for professionals skilled in supporting students with visual impairments. Two distinct roles are open for the 2026-27 academic year: an in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a Braille specialist. Both positions will support the educational needs of visually impaired students, enhancing their learning experiences and accessibility.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering direct instructional support to visually impaired students using appropriate educational strategies and tools
• Implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) with a focus on visual impairment needs
• Providing telehealth services for remote support in the Teacher of the Visually Impaired role, when applicable
• Transcribing educational materials into Braille with accuracy and attention to detail
• Collaborating with educators, therapists, and families to optimize student learning and participation
• Assisting in the selection and maintenance of assistive technology and instructional materials related to visual impairments

Qualifications and desired experience:

• Certification or relevant credentials in visual impairment education or Braille transcription
• Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
• Proficiency in Braille, including transcription and reading
• Familiarity with telehealth delivery methods for educational services preferred for the teaching role
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse educational teams
