Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) | California
An educational opportunity is available for experienced professionals specializing in visual impairment instruction via telehealth. This contract position involves delivering specialized teaching services remotely to students with visual impairments within a school setting located in Long Beach, CA.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing tailored instruction for students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum and teaching methods to meet individual needs through telehealth platforms
- Collaborating with educational teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) focused on visual impairment goals
- Utilizing technology and assistive devices to enhance learning experiences remotely
- Potentially fulfilling dual roles if holding credentials in both Visual Impairment teaching and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) specialist services, supporting students' navigation and independence skills
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Valid teaching credential in Visual Impairment
- Experience or certification in Orientation & Mobility is a strong asset, especially for dual-role candidates
- Familiarity with telehealth tools and remote instructional methodologies
- Background in Braille instruction and transcribing is highly desirable
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, contract-based educational environment
