Virtual Teacher of Visually Impaired in CT

An opportunity is available for a skilled visually impaired educator specializing in telehealth instruction and Braille literacy to support a high school student with low vision. This role requires delivering customized Braille instruction and vision support through virtual platforms, enabling effective learning and skill development.

Location:

• Bolton, CT

Responsibilities:

• Provide telehealth-based instruction tailored to meet the needs of a high school student with low vision.
• Teach Braille literacy to facilitate the student's academic progress and independence.
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with the students goals.
• Monitor the student's progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
• Collaborate with relevant educational staff to ensure comprehensive support.

Qualifications:

• Certification and experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
• Proficiency in Braille instruction and related assistive technologies.
• Experience conducting lessons via telehealth platforms.
• Strong understanding of low vision challenges and educational accommodations.
• Ability to work with students individually and maintain engaging virtual sessions.

Contract Details:

• Start Date: ASAP
• End Date: End of School Year, including Extended School Year and Night School Year as applicable.
• Hours per Week: Approximately 3 hours
• Contract Type: Temporary contract position
