Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) - California
A contract opportunity is available for a specialist experienced in providing educational services to students with visual impairments through telehealth platforms. This role supports the learning and development of students with vision loss by delivering specialized instruction tailored to their unique needs, remotely connecting with them, families, and educational teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments and creating individualized instructional plans for students who are visually impaired
- Delivering direct telehealth instruction focusing on compensatory skills, assistive technology, orientation and mobility basics, and academic accommodations
- Collaborating with classroom educators, therapists, and families to integrate vision-related strategies into daily learning environments
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting interventions to maximize educational outcomes
- Maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with educational standards
Preferred qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience delivering instruction via telehealth or distance learning methods
- Strong knowledge of visual impairment disabilities, assistive technology, and adaptations in an educational context
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with students, families, and educational staff
